Ghana’s newly sworn-in President, John Dramani Mahama, has committed to implementing 26 key actions within his first 120 days in office and framing his ambitious agenda as a “covenant” with the Ghanaian people.
The President emphasized the importance of faith, unity, and collective effort in achieving a national reset.
A Covenant with the People
The President described his pledge to the nation as a solemn agreement, assuring citizens of swift and decisive action to address the country’s challenges.
“I have entered into a covenant with you, the good people of Ghana, in which I’ve enumerated 26 actions I’ll take within my first 120 days.”
“There is reason for hope and every reason for hope. But we must also have faith because faith empowers us to trust the things that will happen,” he declared.
While specific details of the 26 actions were not outlined during the speech, the President’s remarks underscored his administration’s focus on fostering trust in leadership, institutions, and the nation itself.
Faith as a Foundation for Change
President Mahama challenged Ghanaians to embrace faith as a driving force for the nation’s transformation. He linked faith to belief in collective potential and the ability to achieve a meaningful reset for the country.
“With faith, you believe what you know, and that is why we need faith to be able to achieve our reset. We need a reset with the faith we have in our country and our leadership. We need a reset with the faith we have in our institutions,” he said.
Highlighting the central role of unity, the President stressed that Ghana’s future depends on a shared commitment from all its citizens.
“We need a reset with our faith in our dear nation Ghana, and by that, I mean in all of us because all of us are Ghana. You are Ghana, and I am Ghana. All of you seated here today, Ghanaian citizens, you are Ghana,” he proclaimed.
Hope for a New Era
His covenant, he said, represents not only a commitment to governance but also a broader vision of trust and faith in Ghana’s potential.
As the new administration prepares to embark on its first 120 days, Ghanaians await further details of the President’s 26-point plan. For now, his message of faith and unity has set a hopeful tone for what many see as a critical chapter in the nation’s history.
