The Falcons of Jediane can finally heave a sigh of relief as head coach James Kwesi Appiah is set to join the team’s training camp in Saudi Arabia after resolving a dispute over unpaid wages.

Sudan’s national team is currently in the Asian country for a 12-day training camp as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this month.

Appiah, who initially boycotted the team’s training due to unpaid entitlements, is expected to arrive in camp on Saturday. His compatriots, assistant coaches Ignatius Osei Fosu and Eric Amponsah, arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, signaling that Appiah’s arrival is imminent.

According to sources close to AfricaSoccer.com, the former Black Stars tactician will depart Ghana for Saudi Arabia imminently, ensuring his presence for Sudan’s crucial World Cup qualifiers.

The Falcons of Jediane are set to face Senegal on March 18 before taking on South Sudan on March 24 in the fifth and sixth rounds of Group B matches.

Sudan currently leads Group B with 10 points after an impressive performance in the first four matches. As part of their preparations, the team has scheduled a friendly match against Jordan before traveling to Libya on March 17, 2025, for their qualification games.

With Appiah’s return, Sudan’s hopes of maintaining their strong position in the qualifiers have received a significant boost, as the team aims to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.Suda
