Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rashid Tanko-Computer, has disclosed that the late Defence Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah, dedicated his final hours to shaping the party’s electoral game plan before the fatal helicopter crash.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Tanko-Computer recounted how, at 7 a.m. on the day of the tragedy, Dr. Boamah chaired a virtual meeting to fine-tune strategies for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.

“He was a master planner. Instead of wasting time on physical gatherings, he insisted on virtual meetings to maximise efficiency. That morning, he laid out our assignments, and we were to report back to him by evening,” Tanko-Computer revealed.

The Acting CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) described Dr. Omane Boamah as a meticulous strategist whose guidance had driven NDC’s electoral successes since 2023.

“He would map out the plan, assign tasks, and expect results, always aiming for an A+ performance,” he said.

Tanko-Computer noted that none of the team knew Dr. Boamah was travelling that day. Hours later, news broke that the Defence Minister was among eight people killed in a military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
