The Anloga District Assembly has been put on notice by the Chairperson of Parliament’s Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr.
In a stern warning issued during a public hearing on Wednesday, September 17, Hon. Sawyerr lambasted district officials for what she called poor coordination and weak leadership.

The chairperson did not mince words, directly addressing the Assembly’s relationship with its Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Richard Kwami Sefe.
“You cannot run that district without your Member of Parliament,” she stressed, citing numerous complaints about the district’s performance. She cautioned that without the MP’s involvement, the Assembly would not be able to operate effectively.
Hon. Sawyerr questioned the Anloga District Chief Executive (DCE) directly about the apparent lack of engagement with the MP, even after the DCE claimed to be in contact with him. “Why would you speak to him and not tell him you are coming to meet us? Do you have a problem with him?” she pressed.

The Committee chair also reminded the district leadership that the significant funds they receive from the President are intended to spur development, not to create discord or a sense of independence from their local representative.
“Every advice he gives or every push he makes can support the district,” she explained, emphasizing the crucial role of the MP.
Hon. Sawyerr further cautioned the officials against disregarding concerns from residents. She warned that the Committee plans to conduct follow-up visits to verify claims of mismanagement.
“Things are not what you think they are. So you better sit up,” she stressed, signaling that the Committee will not tolerate the status quo.
