The campaign team of Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed widespread social media reports claiming he has been disqualified from the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

According to the campaign, the claims that Mr. Agyepong failed to pay the mandatory GH¢ 4 million development fee required for the nomination process are false, unfounded, and misleading.

Reports had earlier suggested that the NPP vetting committee’s report to the National Council and National Executive Committee indicated that Mr. Agyepong had not met this key financial requirement. However, the party is yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the reports.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 8, the Kwabena Agyei Agyepong 2028 Campaign Team described the rumours as deliberate attempts to mislead party members and distract from the focus of their campaign.

“These reports are entirely false, unfounded, and should be disregarded by the general public and party faithful,” the statement read.

The team emphasized that Ing. Agyepong successfully passed the NPP Presidential Elections Committee’s vetting process and has been officially invited by the party headquarters to participate in the balloting exercise scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025, at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down.

“Ing. Agyepong remains a qualified, dedicated, and loyal aspirant, committed to upholding the democratic principles of the New Patriotic Party and contributing to Ghana’s continued progress,” the statement added.

The campaign further urged the public and party supporters to ignore false claims aimed at diverting attention from the unity, vision, and focus of our campaign.

The team reiterated that Mr. Agyepong’s campaign is grounded in integrity, service, and renewal, values it believes are essential to revitalizing both the NPP and the nation.

“The KAA 2028 Team remains steadfast in its vision of promoting integrity, service, and renewal within the NPP and Ghana at large,” said Nana Ama Asantewaa Kwarko, spokesperson for the campaign.

She reaffirmed the team’s confidence in Mr. Agyepong’s qualification and commitment to advancing the party’s democratic ideals as the NPP prepares for its crucial presidential primaries.
