Ghana’s Black Stars have booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after edging Comoros 1–0 in their final qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

A solitary strike from Mohammed Kudus early in the second half proved decisive, sending Ghana to their fifth World Cup appearance, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The victory capped a dominant qualification campaign for the Black Stars, who topped Group I with 25 points. Madagascar followed with 19 points, while Mali placed third with 18. Comoros finished fourth on 15 points, ahead of the Central African Republic with eight, and Chad, who managed just a point.

Head coach Otto Addo made a few tactical adjustments to his side that thrashed the Central African Republic 5–0 in their previous outing. Alidu Seidu and Ebenezer Annan were restored to the starting line-up, with Gideon Mensah and Caleb Yirenkyi dropping to the bench.

The Stars began brightly, dictating the tempo and pinning Comoros in their own half. However, visiting goalkeeper Anzimati Aboudou pulled off several superb saves to keep the score level at the break.

Two minutes after the restart, Kudus finally broke the deadlock, turning in a close-range effort to ignite wild celebrations from the home crowd.

Ghana remained in full control for most of the contest, with goalkeeper Benjamin Asare rarely tested. Comoros mounted some late pressure in search of an equaliser but failed to make their chances count.

The Black Stars will now shift focus to the World Cup group stage draw, scheduled for December 5, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., where they will learn their opponents for the global showpiece.
