The Minister of State responsible for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has disclosed that the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is scheduled to address the nation today, February 12, 2026, on Cabinet-approved interventions intended to address persistent challenges in the cocoa sector.
Speaking to the media after an emergency Cabinet session, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said the Finance Minister will present a detailed account of the resolutions reached to stabilise the cocoa industry and speed up the release of payments due to cocoa farmers.
He indicated that the national address will take place at 11:00 a.m., during which the Finance Minister will formally announce the wide-ranging measures adopted at the close of the Cabinet deliberations.

The emergency Cabinet meeting was convened amid increasing anxiety within the cocoa industry over delayed farmer payments and the mounting financial difficulties confronting the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that the session was specifically aimed at developing workable responses to the problems affecting the sector.
He noted that the Cabinet would not have convened an emergency meeting unless there was a clear intention to resolve the challenges currently facing the cocoa industry.
According to him, the government has taken resolute steps to confront the issues undermining the sector’s stability.
“We have just concluded an extended emergency Cabinet meeting that reviewed the cocoa sector and associated concerns,” he said.
He added that the discussions culminated in firm decisions to accelerate payments to cocoa farmers and to implement the most comprehensive reforms in the history of the sector, to drive significant growth in domestic cocoa processing rather than continued reliance on raw bean exports.
