The appointment follows the recall of the previous envoy, Mohammed Baba Jamal, who vacated the post to contest the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.

The seat became vacant following the passing of the Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, in early January.

Baba Sadiq, a prominent entrepreneur and the NDC’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, is now tasked with strengthening the strategic and economic partnership between West Africa’s two largest economies.
