Content Lead for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has called for a measured and forward-looking approach in appointing a new head coach for the Ghana national football team.

His remarks follow the dismissal of head coach Otto Addo after a string of disappointing results by the senior national team.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, March 31, Saanie Daara stressed the importance of long-term planning as the team undergoes a transition phase.

“While we are looking for a coach now, we must also think about the future. We have a very young squad with the potential to do well,” he said.

He noted that many players are in their early 20s, making it crucial to appoint a coach capable of nurturing talent over time.

“We need a coach who will not only focus on the World Cup but can also stay long-term and stabilise the team for sustained success,” he added.

Saanie Daara also urged players to demonstrate the same level of commitment to the national team as they do with their respective clubs, stressing that dedication will be key to rebuilding performance and restoring confidence.

Meanwhile, discussions over a replacement for Otto Addo have intensified, with several high-profile names being mentioned.

These include Walid Regragui, Winfried Schäfer, and former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah.

The Ghana Football Association now faces a crucial decision as it seeks to balance immediate results with long-term development goals for the national team.

The appointment is expected to shape the future of the Black Stars as they prepare for upcoming international competitions.
