The convoy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Treasurer, Dr. Charles Dwamena, has been involved in a road accident near Buipe Township in the Savannah Region.
The National Treasurer and members of his team, however, escaped unhurt, while occupants of the other vehicle involved in the accident are also reported to be safe, except the driver, who sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Central Gonja District Hospital for treatment.

The party confirmed the accident in a press release issued on April 24, 2026, which occurred while Dr. Dwamena was travelling from Tamale to Kintampo as part of an official working visit.
According to the statement, following the accident, the Treasurer’s ongoing working tour of the northern sector has been temporarily suspended until further notice.
The NPP assured party supporters and the general public that the National Treasurer is in good condition and there is no cause for alarm.
