Parliament is set to reconvene on Thursday, May 21, 2026, following a directive by the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

A formal notice issued on Monday, May 4, 2026, by the Office of the Speaker instructed Members of Parliament to return for the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

The directive, issued in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, empowers the Speaker to summon the House for sittings.

Parliament has been on recess since March 27, 2026, when the First Meeting of the Second Session was adjourned sine die after eight weeks of legislative business. Within that period, the House held 32 sittings and successfully passed several bills.

The recess coincided with the Easter period, allowing MPs to engage with constituents and attend to activities within their respective constituencies.

With the resumption date now set, attention is expected to shift back to pending legislative work and key national issues before the House.
