The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on the Minister for the Interior to publicly identify and prosecute any government officials found to have played a role in the alleged trafficking of narcotics linked to a 320-kilogram methamphetamine shipment intercepted in Australia.
The suspected narcotics haul, estimated to be worth more than $300 million, has sparked renewed concerns over the possible involvement of public officials in organised transnational crime.
In a statement shared on social media, Rev. Ntim Fordjour insisted that anyone occupying public office who is implicated in the alleged drug trafficking operation must face the full rigours of the law without political interference.

“Those government officials must be named and prosecuted. We will resist every attempt to shield drug trafficking government officials,” he stated.
The Assin South MP further stressed that elected and appointed officials are entrusted with public responsibility and must not abuse their offices to facilitate criminal enterprises.
“You’ve been elected and appointed not to use power to operate a multimillion-dollar drug trafficking cartel,” he added.
His comments come less than 24 hours after the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, told Parliament’s Committee on Government Assurance that preliminary investigations into the movement of the 320kg methamphetamine shipment had uncovered indications that some government and public officials may have facilitated the passage of the consignment through Ghana.
According to the Minister, investigations remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the trafficking network and identify all individuals connected to the operation.
The latest development has intensified calls for transparency and accountability, with pressure mounting on the government to ensure that anyone found culpable—regardless of status or position—is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
