Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has recalled the House from its recess for a five-day sitting to consider what has been described as urgent parliamentary business.
The recall is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 24, and end on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Parliament House in Accra.
Speaker Bagbin issued the directive on Wednesday, August 12, invoking his powers under Order 58(4) of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana.

Under the provision, the Speaker is empowered to recall Parliament from recess when circumstances require the House to reconvene for important business.
According to the notice, proceedings on Monday, August 24, will begin at 12 noon, with sittings continuing through Friday, August 28.
The Speaker did not, however, disclose the specific matters that have necessitated the recall, stating only that the sitting is required to enable Parliament to deal with urgent parliamentary business.
The decision comes after Parliament adjourned sine die following its previous sitting, with several legislative and parliamentary matters remaining on the political agenda.
Further details on the business to be considered during the five-day sitting are expected to emerge ahead of the recall.
