Residents of Atiaa near Lamptey Mills in the Ga South Municipality have arrested a 27-year-old spiritualist for allegedly attempting to harm an 11-year-old girl for ritual purposes.
The suspect, identified only as C Prof, was reportedly apprehended after residents allegedly spotted him dragging the girl towards an incomplete building at about 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
The unfinished structure is also alleged to serve as the suspect’s shrine.

According to reports, residents became suspicious of the spiritualist’s actions and intervened before he could allegedly carry out the act.
The girl was rescued, while residents restrained the suspect and subsequently handed him over to the authorities.
A search of the suspect’s belongings reportedly led to the discovery of a bag containing what is believed to be human skeletal remains, which heightened concerns among residents.
However, the circumstances surrounding how the suspected skeletal remains came into the suspect’s possession have not yet been established.
Their identity and origin are also yet to be determined.
The reported incident has caused concern among residents of Atiaa, particularly over the safety of children and activities allegedly taking place at the uncompleted structure.
The police are expected to investigate the alleged attempted attack on the girl, the reported use of the structure as a shrine, and the suspected human remains found in the suspect’s possession.
The identity and condition of the alleged victim have not been disclosed.
The suspect is expected to be taken through due process as investigations continue.
