Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put aside their internal differences and unite behind the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to Annoh-Dompreh, the NPP’s immediate priority must be to consolidate its structures, rebuild unity and strengthen its grassroots organisation following the party’s internal elections.
Speaking at a funeral ceremony in Adoagyiri, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP said completing the NPP’s flagbearer selection process should mark the start of a new phase in the party’s preparations to return to power.

He urged supporters who backed other presidential aspirants during the internal contest to now rally behind Dr Bawumia and work collectively towards the party’s electoral objective.
“The flagbearer has been chosen — now we must unite,” Annoh-Dompreh told party supporters.
He stressed that the NPP could not afford prolonged internal divisions if it wanted to defeat the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.
The Minority Chief Whip also launched an attack on the NDC, accusing the governing party of failing to fulfil some of the promises it made to Ghanaians before the 2024 general elections.
“The NDC has deceived Ghanaians,” Annoh-Dompreh said.
He alleged that the NDC made a number of promises while in opposition that raised expectations among voters but had struggled to deliver on some of those commitments since assuming office.
The NPP MP said his party must therefore remain focused on highlighting what it considers failures of the current administration while developing credible alternative policies for the electorate.
He predicted that voters could punish the NDC at the 2028 polls if the government fails to meet their expectations.
According to Annoh-Dompreh, the NPP must prepare itself to offer a strong alternative and convince Ghanaians that it is ready to return to government.
Annoh-Dompreh said the selection of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s flagbearer provides the party with a clear political direction ahead of 2028.
He called on party members to end the competition associated with the internal presidential contest and channel their energies towards building a united campaign structure.
The MP said “unity, organisation and commitment” must become the central pillars of the NPP’s preparations for the next general election.
He argued that a divided party would struggle to mobilise effectively and regain the confidence of voters.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP further urged NPP supporters to reconnect with voters at the grassroots and listen carefully to their concerns.
He said the party’s return to power would require more than political speeches, stressing the need for sustained community engagement, effective organisation and a convincing policy alternative.
Annoh-Dompreh encouraged party members to remain committed to the NPP and its leadership as the party begins preparations for the 2028 elections.
