Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has taken a commanding lead in the latest Global InfoAnalytics poll on the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s preferred candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
Dr Ato Forson’s support has surged by 10 percentage points, rising from 22% in July to 32% in the September survey, positioning him as the leading contender among NDC delegates.
The latest poll, shared by Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa Dankwah on Facebook on Monday, September 14, shows Dr Ato Forson opening a nine-point lead over NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Asiedu Nketia, who polled 27% in July, has seen his support decline by four percentage points to 23% in the latest survey.
The figures indicate a significant shift in the preferences of NDC delegates as the party gradually moves towards the process of selecting its candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
Dr Ato Forson’s 32% support represents the strongest showing among the potential NDC flagbearer contenders surveyed by Global InfoAnalytics.
His 10-point rise also marks the biggest movement recorded among the leading candidates between the July and September polls.
Despite the surge by the Finance Minister, however, a sizeable 28% of NDC delegates remain undecided.
The undecided figure has dropped slightly from 30% in July, suggesting that while preferences are beginning to crystallise, a substantial portion of the NDC delegate base has yet to settle on a preferred candidate.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu placed third with 5%, while Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah each recorded 4%.
Professor Joshua Alabi polled 2%, gaining one percentage point compared with the previous survey, while Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku remained unchanged at 1%.
The latest Global InfoAnalytics survey was conducted between September 11 and 13, covering 3,615 NDC delegates.
The poll was conducted at a 99% confidence level, with a margin of error of ±2.17 percentage points.
The results provide an indication of the current standing of potential contenders within the NDC ahead of the party’s eventual process to determine its flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
