The Ghana Police Administration has interdicted seven police officers accused of demanding money from a victim and allegedly compelling the person to withdraw cash from an ATM in Accra.
The seven officers were part of a patrol team operating in the Cantonments area of Accra when the alleged incident occurred, according to the Police Administration.
The officers have been identified as Inspector Courage Boateng, Sergeant Stephen Addo, Corporal Moses Anyravi, Corporal Prosper Adiabo, Lance Corporal Samuel Anokye, Constable Henrietta Coleman and Constable Bernard Amoako.

The Police Administration announced the interdictions in a statement issued on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2026.
Interdiction and investigation
According to the Police Administration, the seven police officers were interdicted to allow investigations into the allegations to proceed without interference.
The investigation is being conducted by the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), which is responsible for examining complaints and allegations involving police personnel.
The Police Administration has not publicly disclosed the identity of the victim.
However, reports citing sources have suggested that the victim was a diplomat. That detail has not been officially confirmed by the Police Administration.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred while the officers were on patrol duties in the Cantonments area.
The officers are accused of stopping the victim, demanding money, and subsequently compelling the person to go to an automated teller machine (ATM) to withdraw money for them.
In the statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, the Police Administration said the interdiction is necessary to facilitate the ongoing investigation by the PPSB.
The Administration assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
It said appropriate action would be taken based on the findings and outcome of the investigation.
The interdiction means the seven police officers have been removed from active duties while the investigation continues. It does not, by itself, establish criminal liability or guilt.
The Police Administration has not disclosed the amount of money allegedly demanded or withdrawn during the incident.
