The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has secured a High Court warrant authorising the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The court order follows an application by EOCO, which told the court that its officers had exhausted reasonable means of securing the legislator’s voluntary attendance in connection with an ongoing investigation.
EOCO also expressed concern that documents relevant to the investigation could be concealed, altered or destroyed, leading the Office to seek judicial authority to arrest Mr Baffour Awuah and search for and seize documents connected to the case.

The court warrant comes a week after EOCO officers attempted to arrest the Manhyia South MP at the Accra High Court on September 23.
The attempted arrest resulted in a chaotic confrontation, after which EOCO explained that its action was part of an investigation for which the MP had previously been invited.
According to EOCO, two invitations were issued to Mr Baffour Awuah in February 2026.
The MP, however, has disputed EOCO’s account of the matter and provided a different explanation of his involvement.
Mr Baffour Awuah has said the investigation relates to SIC Life Savings and Loans Company, which was a client of his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners.
He explained that after receiving EOCO’s February invitation, he referred the matter to the Clerk to Parliament.
According to him, a representative of the law firm subsequently appeared before EOCO investigators on March 4, March 18 and April 30 and provided information requested by the investigators, including a written statement.
The controversy has drawn renewed attention to financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans.
Mr Baffour Awuah has maintained that his former law firm was engaged by SIC Life Savings and Loans to assist in recovering about GH¢3.5 million invested with Equity Savings and Loans.
He said the investment, together with accumulated interest, had subsequently increased to about GH¢14 million before the parties reached a negotiated settlement.
EOCO has not publicly disclosed the full details of its investigation or the specific allegations being examined.
The latest court order, however, gives EOCO judicial authority to proceed with the arrest of the Manhyia South MP and to conduct the search and seizure of documents sought in connection with the investigation.
The development is expected to further intensify attention on the dispute between the legislator and EOCO, particularly following last week’s confrontation at the High Court.
Mr Baffour Awuah previously said he drove away from the court premises after the attempted arrest because he feared for his safety.
The court warrant now provides a formal legal basis for EOCO’s requested action as the investigation continues.
