Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has been granted GH¢10 million bail with two sureties after pleading not guilty to three charges filed against him by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The court granted bail after prosecutors, led by Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai, presented the charges against the legislator.
The two sureties are the Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho and the Member of Parliament for Effia.

Baffour Awuah pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit a crime, dissipation of public funds and intentionally causing financial loss to the state.
He also denied a money laundering allegation involving an alleged GH¢1 million transfer to the then Managing Director of SIC Life in 2024.
The prosecution team includes Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Prempeh, alongside EOCO officers Leo Anthony Asiamah, Emmanuel Dzakata and Rabiatu Abdulai, who are assisting with the state’s case.
The charges arise from an EOCO investigation into alleged financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans.
Baffour Awuah’s lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, has previously rejected the allegations against his client. He has maintained that the MP’s involvement in the matter was connected to legitimate legal work undertaken for SIC Life.
The latest proceedings follow the MP’s surrender to EOCO on October 1, 2026, after an Accra High Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
EOCO subsequently confirmed that Baffour Awuah had surrendered and was cooperating with investigators.
With the court granting bail, the case will now proceed through the judicial process. The prosecution is expected to present evidence in support of the charges, while the MP will have the opportunity to defend himself against the allegations.
