New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer and Leader, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on members of the party to unite immediately and begin preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Dr Bawumia said the completion of the NPP’s internal elections and the election of new national executives had opened a new chapter in the party’s efforts to rebuild its structures and return to government.

Addressing party members after the NPP National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, he congratulated the newly elected national executives, led by National Chairman John Boadu, and urged them to unite the various factions and campaign teams that emerged during the internal elections.

He said the NPP had completed a comprehensive restructuring process that began at the polling station level and progressed through the electoral area, constituency and regional structures before culminating in the election of the new national executives.

Dr Bawumia stressed that the outcome of the internal elections should not become a source of division, insisting that the party itself emerged as the ultimate winner.

“Our party is a democratic party, and when you have elections, you will have competition. And for those who did not win, I must let you know that it is not about who won. It is the NPP that won this election. You did not lose. The NPP won,” he said.

The NPP Leader called on all candidates who contested the national executive positions to put their differences aside and contribute to the party’s efforts towards the 2028 election.

“Tonight, elections are over; all the camps will dissolve and let us have one NPP camp and rule and win 2028,” Dr Bawumia said.

He also stressed the importance of inclusiveness, using the Akan expression “Obiaa nso ewomu” to emphasise that every member of the party has a role to play in rebuilding and strengthening the NPP.

According to Dr Bawumia, the party cannot afford to delay its preparations for the next general election.

“There is no time to waste,” he said, urging the newly elected executives to begin work immediately and engage the wider party membership on strategies for 2028.

The NPP Leader maintained that unity would be critical to the party’s efforts to return to government.

“Winning 2028 is about unity. Unity in this party will give us victory. Let us come together to work,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia cautioned party members against underestimating the task ahead, saying the NPP would have to work harder than it did during its successful 2016 campaign.

“It will not be an easy election. We will have to take power, and taking power means we will have to work hard, hard and hard. We will work harder than we did in 2016,” he said.

He therefore urged the new national executives and party members at all levels to strengthen the NPP’s structures, develop effective campaign strategies and mobilise the grassroots ahead of the 2028 general election.

Dr Bawumia congratulated the newly elected executives and called on the entire party to rally behind them as the NPP begins its preparations for the next general election.
