Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly reaffirmed her support for her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, as the Kantanka family seeks to heal divisions and preserve the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo.

In a statement signed on Thursday, October 8, Ms Adwoa Safo said the time has come for the family to move beyond differences, misunderstandings and grievances that followed their father’s death and begin a new chapter based on reconciliation and unity.

“I have chosen the path of reconciliation, founded upon love, mutual respect and the enduring undisputed bonds of family,” she said.

In a declaration, the former MP said she has immense love and respect for Israel and, in what she described as the spirit of honouring their father’s wishes, publicly acknowledged and accepted him as Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asfo Church.

“He has my full support, and I state unequivocally that I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the Church, in furtherance of our father’s Vision and Legacy,” she said.

Ms Adwoa Safo said their father’s legacy should not be viewed as the preserve of one person but as a collective responsibility inherited by his children.

“Our father’s legacy transcends any one individual. It is a collective inheritance and a profound responsibility entrusted to us, as his children, and it is a charge we must keep and hold on to, dearly,” she said.

She urged the family to rise above their differences and concentrate on preserving the institutions, values and vision built by the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo.

According to her, doing so would ensure that his ideals continue to inspire future generations.

She also appealed to members of the Kristo Asfo Church, the wider Kantanka family and people associated with their father’s work to recognise and respect the importance of family unity.

“Let us embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose,” she said.

Ms Adwoa Safo further extended goodwill to Israel and her other siblings, describing the development as a renewed journey of peace and forgiveness.

“May this new chapter bring healing, unity and renewed strength as we come together to honour and advance the legacy of our beloved father,” she added.

The latest declaration comes after months of disagreement over succession within the Kantanka family and Kristo Asfo Church.

A family statement issued on June 21, 2026, had rejected Israel’s leadership claim and recognised Adwoa Safo as head of the family. The statement also alleged that although their father initially designated Israel as his successor in 2017, that mandate was revoked in 2024 under a revised succession framework.

Those claims were part of the family’s account of the founder’s directives and became central to the dispute over the leadership of the church and family.

The disagreement resulted in legal proceedings at the Accra High Court, where two church members challenged Israel’s proposed installation, arguing that constitutional amendments had removed him from the line of succession.

Tensions intensified on June 21 following a shooting incident involving Adwoa Safo. The family said she had gone to serve court documents seeking to halt her brother’s proposed installation when the incident occurred.

Her call for reconciliation places the preservation of their father’s legacy at the centre of the family’s next chapter.
