The release, signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, said preliminary investigations indicated that on Friday, October 9, 2026, a disagreement ensued between the suspect and the deceased at his business premises. The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in the suspect stabbing the deceased in the chest with a piece of broken glass.
The statement said Mr Abrokwa was rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina and later referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines. He, however, died on October 14, 2026, while receiving treatment.
The suspect was arrested on October 10, 2026, and brought to the police by the complainant and three others. The release said she reportedly admitted to stabbing the deceased and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
She was subsequently put before the court and remanded into police custody to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence. It also encouraged the public to cooperate with the police as investigations continue and appropriate action is taken in accordance with the law.
