The engagements are expected to provide an opportunity for Ghana and Russia to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral relations.

During his visit, President Mahama is also scheduled to receive honorary doctorate degrees from two Russian universities: the Russian University of Transport and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia.

The two institutions will confer the honorary degrees on him separately at ceremonies in Moscow.

In addition to the summit and university engagements, President Mahama will grant an audience to representatives of several Russian businesses and state institutions.

The visit forms part of Ghana’s diplomatic engagement with Russia and its participation in discussions involving African countries and the Russian Federation.
