The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has emphasized the need for an experienced leader to address Ghana’s economic challenges, cautioning against electing an “experimental” leader.
Making a compelling case for his re-election as President in the upcoming December 7 polls, former President John Dramani Mahama urged the youth to take advantage of any financial inducements offered by politicians but to make the right choice at the ballot box by voting out the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He was speaking at a community engagement in Juapong in Volta Region.
Mahama stressed the commitment of the next NDC administration to prioritize youth development.
Mahama stated, “Before the election, they will come with plenty of money. When they come, I beg you, take your thing back. But on the day when you go to the ballot box, remember the eight years of suffering, hunger, and poverty, and vote for the government and the president that will turn this nation around.”
He recalled the 2016 election, noting that the NPP had asked for a chance to prove themselves within four years, promising they could be voted out if they failed.
He drew parallels with similar promises being made now and urged voters to avoid taking further risks with unproven leadership.
“The youth of this country do not have the time to try anybody again. What we need is an experienced hand who has handled this country before and whose work we have seen.”
“We are going back to experience and expertise to turn our country around so that our youth can have a brighter future,” Mahama stated.
