The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has disassociated himself and the party’s leadership from an ‘unauthorised letter’ allegedly issued by Regional Secretary Theophilus Tetteh Chaie.
The controversial letter, which called on party leaders to submit nominations for government appointments, has been deemed unauthorised and lacking approval from the regional executive committee or the party’s apex leadership.
NDC Chairman’s denial
In a statement issued on December 25, 2024, Ashie Moore categorically denied any knowledge of the letter and clarified that it did not follow the party’s established protocols.
“Let me state explicitly that I am not aware of such notification from the apex level of the party. Neither has the regional executive committee been consulted nor have we approved such a directive,” he declared.
Describing the letter as a unilateral move by the Regional Secretary, Ashie Moore criticized the decision for bypassing proper procedures.
“This is indeed a sole decision of the Regional Secretary without any recourse to laid-down party structures. Kindly disregard the letter completely with the seriousness it deserves,” he stated.
Prioritizing transition and governance
Ashie Moore emphasized the NDC’s current focus on ensuring a seamless transition of power following the party’s victory in the 2024 elections.
“Our President-Elect’s transition team is diligently working to facilitate a smooth handover and to prepare for the implementation of the top 10 policies promised within the first 120 days of the new administration,” he noted.
The Regional Chairman reaffirmed the NDC leadership’s commitment to governance processes and effective leadership, urging party members and the public to remain focused on the party’s larger goals.
“As we prepare to assume office, we must uphold the integrity and unity of our structures to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians,” Ashie Moore stressed
