Accra is receiving a major facelift as the country prepares for the presidential inauguration on January 7, 2025.
The government has tasked Zoomlion Ghana Limited to lead an extensive cleanup and beautification project in the capital’s ceremonial areas.
Over 500 workers from Zoomlion are actively cleaning the Black Star Square and ceremonial streets, decorating traffic lights and trees with national colors, weeding road medians, sweeping streets, and clearing drains.
In a further display of commitment to Ghana’s cleanliness, the team is painting pavements and pedestrian walkways to enhance the city’s appearance.
“Zoomlion is proud to contribute to this historic event and demonstrate our dedication to keeping Ghana clean and beautiful,” the company stated, highlighting its consistent efforts toward environmental sustainability over the years.
The beautification project comes as President-elect John Dramani Mahama prepares to take office after securing a decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election with 56.55% of the votes.
Mahama’s second term is expected to focus on addressing economic challenges, including unemployment and inflation. His flagship “24-hour economy” policy aims to drive economic growth and create jobs for Ghana’s youth.
As Ghanaians look forward to this significant event, hopes remain high that Mahama’s leadership will bring about meaningful development and progress for the nation.
