The 1992 Constitution, which is the supreme law of the country in Article 270 (1) deals with the institution of chieftaincy, together with its traditional councils as established by customary law and usage, is hereby guaranteed.
The provision establishes the relevance of chieftaincy in our country.
Our chiefs are the custodians of our customs and traditions.
My piece today celebrates one distinguished Chief who is changing the face of chieftaincy in our country. This agapious chief is His Royal Highness, Chief, Dr. Alhaji Yussif Iddrisu. He is also known as Chief Mandingo.He is the Zongo Chief of Pantang – Abokobi and Chamba Global President.
This distinguished Chief has been on the throne for the past 12 years.
Since his enskinment, Chief Iddrisu Mandingo has distinguished himself to the acceptability of his other 44 Chiefs under his remit. His leadership traits have been hailed and praised by his colleagues Chiefs and subjects.
According to some of the chiefs and their subjects, Chief Yussif has performed creditably to their admiration. They specifically mentioned education ( secular), the construction of Arabic Schools, and helping the young ones who are learning skills such as mechanics,(fitting), hairdressing, and other productive ventures.
In the area of conflict resolution, the Chief is helping to resolve many civil disputes especially marriages, child maintenance, and youth differences that are brought to him.
The Chiefs also commend him for his efforts to unite them and their subjects and other positive opportunities for all.
Chief Yussif Iddrisu has shown or demonstrated some positive traits such as humility, excellent human relations, compassion, industriousness, and his determination to see many young men and women educated to the apogee.
He is currently assisting numerous students from the basic, secondary, and tertiary. Because of his generosity, he is also known as Alhaji Mobile Money because of his commitment to helping many of his subjects and other persons financially.
Chief Yussif Iddrisu was recently honoured with Honoris Causa( Honorary Doctorate)Professional in Global Leadership, by the Rushford Business School, Switzerland.
The ceremony took place in Dubai one of the campuses of the University.
Chief Yussif Iddrisu is now known as Chief Dr Alhaji Yussif Iddrisu.
He was commended and honoured for his humanitarian role and strategic leadership.
Chief Dr Yussif Iddrisu has promised to continue to lead and serve his people to the best of his abilities.
He is urging all the youngsters and the youth to respect the elders, participate in the development of their communities, make education their priority, and use their energies for the growth of their families, themselves, and others.
He also urged the youth to denounce politicians and other persons who would use them for the wrong motives.
He appealed to leaders and their followers to eschew laziness, back-biting, all negatives, hatred, and undermining one another.
The Distinguished Chief also urged Muslims to unite to fight their common enemies of poverty, squalor, envy, and bad leadership. He promised to be fair to all irrespective of tribe, belief, creed, politics, and sex ( gender,).
Chief Yussif Iddrisu is bringing huge innovation to the Chieftaincy institution and he needs the support of all to achieve his vision.
He believes in teamwork and togetherness.
Chief Mandingo, your subjects are proud of you and are praying for Allah’s love and protection for you, your elders, chiefs under your remit, and all your subjects.
Chatting with some of his neighbors, they also commend him for his leadership, his human relations, and the numerous opportunities he continues to offer the young ones and the youth in the community and by extension the country.
We celebrate you, Chief for your leadership and the numerous successes you have brought to your fellow chiefs, your tribesmen, Chamba, and your subjects.
