Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has declared the recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue his “guiding scripture” for crafting the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
The Budget is set for presentation on March 11.
Speaking at the close of the two-day forum, he promised stakeholders that their input would shape the budget, signaling a push for inclusive renewal of the economy.
“The communiqué will be my Bible,” Dr. Forson said, pledging to channel the dialogue’s proposals into Cabinet recommendations and the final budget.”
“He acknowledged that while Ghana’s economic woes and remedies are clear, success hinges on execution—and that requires public support. “We can only move forward if citizens back these reforms,” he insisted.
Dr. Forson called for a united front, urging the private sector, civil society, and citizens to rally behind the government’s reform agenda.
“Economic transformation isn’t a solo act. We must reset and rebuild together,” he said, stressing the need for education to secure public buy-in.
He painted a vivid picture of interconnected challenges—spanning macroeconomics, infrastructure, private sector growth, governance, and corruption—underscoring the urgency of sweeping reforms.
“The links between these sectors demand bold action,” he remarked, vowing that the budget would tackle structural weaknesses, boost revenue, and enforce fiscal discipline.
With solutions in sight, Dr. Forson issued a rallying cry: “We know the problems, we know the fixes—now it’s time to act.”
His pledge marks a decisive step toward resetting Ghana’s economic course, with the 2025 budget poised as a cornerstone of that vision.
