Parliament has announced a re-composition of its committees, introducing new leadership appointments aimed at bolstering accountability and efficiency.
Among the key changes, Abena Osei-Asare has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a pivotal body tasked with scrutinizing government expenditures and ensuring transparency in the use of public funds.
She takes over from James Avedzi, the former Member of Parliament for Ketu North, who previously held the role.
Isaac Adongo, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, has been named Chairman of the Finance Committee. Known for his expertise in economic and fiscal matters, Adongo will lead the committee in reviewing the national budget, tax policies, and other critical financial issues that impact Ghana’s economic landscape.
Additionally, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng has been appointed Chairman of the Budget Committee, which plays a crucial role in overseeing the preparation and implementation of the national budget.
His leadership will ensure that fiscal allocations align with the country’s developmental priorities and promote sustainable economic growth.
These appointments underscore Parliament’s commitment to strengthening its oversight functions and fostering greater accountability in governance.
By placing experienced and capable leaders at the helm of these key committees, Parliament aims to enhance its ability to monitor government activities, safeguard public resources, and drive progress in line with national development goals.
