Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Dapaah made her first court appearance in her ongoing criminal trial. In it, she accused her domestic workers of stealing massive amounts of cash and valuables from her home over several years.
Testifying before the High Court in Accra, Dapaah disclosed that the accused stole $410,000, €300,000, and GHS 350,000 (approximately $30,000) in cash, along with jewelry valued at $53,000.
Dapaah, visibly distressed, claimed that the stolen items, accumulated over three decades, held immense personal significance.
This marks her first time speaking in court since the trial began in 2023.
She has pointed fingers at two former female housekeepers, alleging they not only stole the money but also made off with other valuables, including her husband’s clothing, from their Accra residence.
