Media General Ghana Limited has taken a bold stand against Alhaji Osman Masawudu, the Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), after he allegedly assaulted their journalists and issued chilling threats of violence.

The media giant has now dragged the rogue politician to the police, demanding immediate action.

During a recent NPP press conference, Masawudu was caught on camera violently shoving a TV3 microphone away in a blatant act of aggression. Eyewitnesses confirm the disgraceful scene unfolded in full view of party executives and fellow journalists—an appalling display of contempt for the free press.

Threats against Media General

But the NPP strongman didn’t stop there. In a subsequent radio interview on ASHH FM, Masawudu reportedly doubled down, threatening that Media General journalists would face physical assault if they dared cover future NPP events. Such reckless intimidation strikes at the heart of Ghana’s democracy, where press freedom is sacrosanct.

Refusing to be cowed, Media General has filed an official police complaint, calling for a full investigation and swift justice.

“This is not just an attack on our journalists—it’s an assault on Ghana’s constitution and every reporter who risks their life to hold power to account,” the company declared.

The Media General is rallying civil society, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), and all defenders of democracy to condemn this tyranny.

“We will not be silenced. Journalism must thrive without fear or favor,” Media General vowed, standing firm in its commitment to truth and accountability.
