The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a firm directive banning all forms of premature campaigning within the party ahead of its upcoming internal elections.

In a press release dated Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP warned that no member or prospective aspirant is permitted to engage party executives or structures for campaign purposes until official nominations are formally opened.

No campaigning

The directive, which applies to all levels of the party nationwide, forms part of the NPP’s renewed commitment to fairness, order, and discipline in its internal electoral processes.

According to the statement, early campaigning undermines the authority of party structures and risks derailing the strategic work currently being done to reposition the party for a strong showing in the 2028 general elections.

“We therefore urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders to fully cooperate with this directive and refrain from any activities that could compromise party unity or the integrity of our processes,” the statement emphasized.

The NPP also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, fairness, and due process. It assured party members that once nominations are officially opened, the leadership will release clear timelines, procedures, and guidelines for all aspirants.

The party urged its rank and file to continue supporting the leadership’s efforts to strengthen internal cohesion and build a more formidable party ahead of the next national elections.
