The sixteen Regional Communications Officers (RCOs) of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have commended President John Dramani Mahama for his ‘inspiring leadership” and “balanced statesmanship‘ in addressing the recent controversy involving the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Richard Kirk-Mensah, Dean of the RCOs and their deputies, the group applauded Mahama’s intervention, which they said emphasized accountability, forgiveness, and humility.

“President Mahama’s thoughtful and balanced response demonstrates his maturity, magnanimity, and vision. By acknowledging the merit of the situation and Mr. Gyamfi’s sincere public apology, he has underscored the importance of accountability, forgiveness, and humility in public life,” the statement read.

The RCOs also threw their weight behind Sammy Gyamfi, describing his actions as a “gesture of misguided generosity rather than misconduct.”

They praised his track record, particularly his leadership at the Ghana Gold Board, and expressed confidence in his integrity.

“We believe Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi acted in good faith. His competence, vision, and drive are unmistakable,” the statement noted.

The group further commended Gyamfi for his composure during the public scrutiny and welcomed the withdrawal of a complaint filed against him at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) as proof of his strong character.

Reaffirming their loyalty, the RCOs declared unwavering support for Gyamfi, expressing optimism about his continued contributions to the NDC and national development.

“The sixteen Regional Communications Officers and our deputies stand firmly in solidarity with Sammy Gyamfi, Esq. We are confident that his commitment to Ghana’s progress and the NDC will continue to shine through his actions,” the statement added.
