A dramatic scene unfolded Friday morning at Paraku Estate as National Security operatives and police officers besieged the residence of Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi.
The heavily armed team reportedly stormed the property to execute a search warrant but the motive behind the operation remains shrouded in secrecy.
Speculation swirled that Wontumi may have been placed under house arrest, though his exact location during the early hours of the raid was unknown.
As news of the operation spread, hundreds of Wontumi’s supporters, joined by senior NPP regional executives, flocked to the scene in protest. Tensions quickly escalated, resulting in a standoff between the security forces and the enraged crowd.
Faced with mounting pressure and a charged atmosphere, the operatives were eventually forced to withdraw, ending the standoff—but leaving behind a cloud of controversy and unanswered questions.
