The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Dwamena, has urged students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to pursue their leadership and entrepreneurial aspirations with courage and determination, emphasizing that small beginnings often lead to great accomplishments.
Addressing participants at a Leadership and Entrepreneurship Summit organized by the Atlantic Hall JCR under the theme “Transformational Leader“, Dr. Dwamena—popularly known as Dr. China—encouraged students not to let the fear of failure hold them back.
“The perfect time you dream of may never come unless you make a conscious effort to start today. What you think are baby steps today will become professional steps tomorrow,” he said.
Drawing from his experiences as a former Deputy Ambassador of Ghana to China, Dr. Dwamena emphasized the importance of consistency, vision, and resilience in the journey toward leadership and business success.
He urged the students to take initiative, stressing that waiting for ideal conditions could lead to missed opportunities. According to him, transformational leadership begins with the courage to start, however small the first steps may seem.
The summit featured several other high-profile speakers, including:
- Hon. Brogya Genfi, Deputy Minister for Defense
- Eric Kwabena Nyanteh, CEO of Translight Solar
- Mr. Elikem Kotoko, Deputy CEO, the Forestry Commission
- Prof. Mavis S. B. Mensah, Director, CESED, School of Business, UCC
- Mr. Sherif Ghali, CEO, the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs
- Ms. Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer
The event aimed to inspire and empower students to embrace innovation, leadership, and social impact as essential tools for national development.
