Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has delivered a sharp critique of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) current leadership, warning that the absence of a strong national chairman is undermining party unity and direction.
Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, June 23, Boamah expressed deep concern over what he described as a lack of firm leadership at the top, noting that the NPP’s past successes were built on the backs of principled and assertive chairmen who were not afraid to challenge even the president or flagbearer when necessary.
“We’ve always had strong chairmen who could check the excesses of leadership, sit down with flagbearers, and ensure internal harmony for the good of the party,” he stated.

His remarks come at a time of growing internal tension and public squabbles among senior party figures in the wake of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections. Boamah was critical of the current national executives, accusing them of failing to maintain discipline and cohesion within the party ranks.
“There’s a clear leadership vacuum. Coordination is weak, and accountability has diminished,” Boamah added.
While he stopped short of naming individuals, his pointed commentary adds to a growing chorus of party insiders calling for introspection and decisive reform ahead of the 2026 presidential primaries.
The NPP has scheduled its flagbearer elections for January 31, 2026—a move aimed at easing internal friction and uniting the party around a single candidate in time for the next general elections.
