Breaking: Military helicopter goes missing after suspected crash in Ashanti Region

A military helicopter, believed to be carrying eight individuals, has reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning.

Preliminary reports indicate that some passengers may have sustained injuries, although specific details are still emerging as rescue teams diligently work at the crash site to provide assistance and assess the situation.

Helicopter crash

In a press release from the Department of Public Relations at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) General Headquarters in Accra, it was confirmed that a Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter went missing shortly after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m., bound for the town of Obuasi. Just moments after its departure, the aircraft lost contact with radar.

According to the statement, there were three crew members and five passengers.

“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the release stated, adding that further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.

The Ghana Armed Forces and other relevant agencies have reportedly deployed emergency teams to the area and are expected to provide official updates once more information becomes available.

The cause of the suspected crash remains unknown at this time.
