Resident John Dramani Mahama has suspended all official activities and engagements for the remainder of the week following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on Wednesday.
In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President also declared a three-day national mourning period beginning Thursday, 7th August 2025.

As part of the mourning directives, all national flags are to fly at half-mast until further notice, as the nation grieves the loss of two ministers, a Member of Parliament, and five others.
The state was thrown into mourning following the confirmation of the deaths of the eight occupants of the aircraft on Wednesday morning in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, confirmed the fatalities, revealing the identities of all eight persons on board the Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter, which lost contact with radar shortly after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m. en route to Obuasi.
