Similarly, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has been asked to act as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation until further notice.

The new assignments come in the wake of the sudden demise of the substantive officeholders, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who lost their lives alongside six others in a Ghana Air Force helicopter crash en route to an official function in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

The nation has since been plunged into mourning, with President Mahama suspending all official engagements for the remainder of the week. A three-day national mourning period has also been declared, with all flags flying at half-mast.
