Minister for Local Government and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has praised the Apostolic Faith Church Ghana for their powerful initiative to bring together Christians from across West Africa to pray for peace and freedom.

Speaking at the church’s 2025 Annual camp meeting, held at its auditorium in Aplaku in the Ga South district, the Minister described the gathering as a timely and crucial effort.

The event, themed ‘Liberation,’ united delegates from Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin, highlighting a spirit of regional solidarity.

“I’m very impressed that the church decided to bring people from the sub-regional economic group to come together and to pray and intercede on behalf of the people,” Mr. Ibrahim said.

The Minister interpreted the camp’s theme of “Liberation” as a collective call for freedom from various societal and economic struggles. He stressed the need for liberation from “economic deprivation, freedom from marginalisation, freedom from racism, freedom from poverty, freedom from sickness… and freedom from terrorism and jihadism.”

Representing President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim joined the congregation in prayer, kneeling to receive blessings for the nation and its leaders.

He underscored the importance of faith and righteous leadership for the continent’s progress. Citing Proverbs 29:2, he stated, “When the righteous reign, the people rejoice. So I know with this prayer and with His Excellency on the throne, Ghanaians will rejoice, ECOWAS will rejoice, and Africa will rise again.”
