Minister for Government Communications and MP for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rubbished claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that its members are being targeted by the state.

His remarks come as the NPP insists on proceeding with its planned protest on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, despite the release of its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.

The party maintains the demonstration is not only about Abronye’s detention but also what it calls a broader pattern of political intimidation.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on September 16, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the allegations as unfounded.

“These claims must be dismissed; they are baseless and without merit. What exactly is the NPP complaining about? When they were in power between 2017 and 2024, did they not arrest and prosecute people? So why the double standards?” he queried.

The minister stressed that recent arrests align with the government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, aimed at ensuring accountability for past officials.

“There’s nothing wrong with holding former government officials accountable,” he added.
