The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem South, Paul Osae Offei, has pledged to focus on improving infrastructure, revenue mobilization, and social services to accelerate development in the municipality.

Speaking on Friday in Parliament after appearing before the public hearing of the Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Mr. Offei said his vision is to build a municipality that is both self-reliant and socially inclusive.

“Our goal is to transform Akuapem South into a model municipality where basic infrastructure works efficiently, businesses thrive, and residents enjoy a better quality of life,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of local revenue generation as a key pillar of his administration. “We cannot always depend on central government transfers. We are putting in place innovative strategies to increase internally generated funds to sustain our projects,” he added.

On infrastructure, Mr. Offei noted that poor roads remain a major challenge but assured that his office is collaborating with relevant agencies to ensure improvements.

“The state of some of our roads affects economic activity, especially in farming communities. We are committed to working with government to address this,” he said.

The MCE also highlighted education and health as priority sectors. “We are working to ensure that every child has access to quality education and that health facilities are equipped to serve the needs of our people,” he emphasized.

The Committee’s sitting forms part of its oversight role to assess the performance and challenges of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country.
