The meeting, co-hosted by China and UN Women, is expected to reaffirm global commitments made during the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing 30 years ago, aimed at promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

This year’s gathering coincides with two major milestones—the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Conference on women’s advancement.

While in Beijing to champion women’s empowerment, President Mahama and his delegation will also focus on strengthening Ghana-China relations and deepening investment cooperation.

During the visit, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping and the Premier of the State Council of China, Mr. Li Qiang.

He will also meet with leading Chinese business executives and host a Presidential Investment Forum aimed at connecting Ghanaian businesses, Chinese investors, and corporate partners to explore new opportunities in Ghana.

The President is accompanied by Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, as well as officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Free Zones Authority, and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).

President Mahama is also expected to visit Fujian Province, where he will engage with Chinese companies that have established operations in Ghana.

These engagements are expected to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Ghana and China and promote deeper cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The President’s delegation includes Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection; Mr. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways; and Mr. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Deputy Minister for Finance.

Also on the delegation are Dr. Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President; Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide; Madam Shamima Muslim, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson; and Nana Yaa Gyantuah, Presidential Staffer.
