The family of the late Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, led by his daughter and former Member of Parliament, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to formally inform him of the passing of their father and family patriarch.

The delegation included some of Apostle Safo’s children, leaders of the Kristo Asafo Mission, staff of the Kantanka Group, and members of the funeral planning committee. They were warmly received at the Office of the Speaker.

Hon. Adwoa Safo explained that the visit was not only to officially announce her father’s passing but also to acknowledge the long-standing relationship between the late Apostle and the Speaker. She described her father as a national treasure and visionary leader whose innovations and humanitarian work touched many lives across Ghana.

She further disclosed that the 40-day celebration of Apostle Safo’s passing will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. In keeping with Akan tradition, she presented traditional drinks to the Speaker as a symbol of respect and formal notification.

According to her, arrangements for the final funeral rites are underway, and the family will communicate the official date to the public at a later time.

The Speaker, in his remarks, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Apostle Safo, describing the news as a great shock. He noted that he had maintained contact with the family since hearing of the incident.

Calling the late Apostle his “brother and a man of peace,” Rt. Hon. Bagbin encouraged the family to stay united throughout the funeral preparations. “Apostle Safo lived in peace with all. It is only right that we honour him in that same spirit of peace and unity,” he said.

He assured the delegation that Parliament will fully participate in both the 40-day celebration and the final funeral rites to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the distinguished inventor and statesman.

Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, widely celebrated for his groundbreaking work in technology, innovation, and religious leadership, leaves behind a powerful legacy that continues to inspire generations across Ghana and beyond.
