Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has indicated that Ghana’s 2026 Budget will focus on accelerating economic expansion, boosting job creation, and introducing simplified tax reforms to support business growth.

According to the Minister, upcoming fiscal measures will ease the tax burden on businesses by revising current regulations and lowering the effective tax rate.

Insights from a recent KPMG–UNDP survey reveal that businesses across key sectors are calling for affordable long-term financing, reduced energy costs, and targeted incentives to encourage companies to hire more university graduates.

Stakeholders argue that these interventions are crucial for strengthening productivity, enhancing competitiveness, and driving sustainable, private-sector-led growth.

The Finance Ministry is expected to integrate these recommendations as part of its broader strategy to transform Ghana’s economic landscape and stimulate job creation in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry is urging the government to use the 2026 Budget to strengthen the business environment.

It seeks measures that enhance private-sector competitiveness, strengthen SME support, and enhance infrastructure. Industry leaders also emphasised the need for value-for-money spending and disciplined investment prioritisation.
