Parliament mourns late Ayawaso East MP Naser Toure Mahama

Parliament has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, describing his passing as a major loss to the House, the nation and the people he faithfully served.

In a statement released on Sunday, January 4, 2026, on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, the leadership of the House and the Parliamentary Service, Parliament said Ghana had lost a committed public servant whose dedication to national development and constituency advocacy was widely recognised.

The statement noted that the late MP was a principled and hardworking legislator who carried out his duties with integrity, responsibility and a strong sense of service to his constituents.

His contributions to parliamentary debates, support for development initiatives and consistent efforts to improve the welfare of the people of Ayawaso East were highlighted as lasting aspects of his legacy.

Parliament further described Mr Mahama as a lawmaker who embodied the ideals of service and philanthropy, adding that his impact within the House and beyond would not be forgotten.

Extending condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues in Parliament, constituents and all those affected by his death, Parliament assured them of its prayers and support during this difficult period, praying that “the Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss”.

The House also appealed to the media and the general public to respect the privacy of the family and avoid sensationalism as they mourn the late legislator.

Parliament Commiserates with the Family of Hon. Naser Toure Mahama

The Parliament of the Republic of Ghana has learned with profound sadness of the passing of Hon. Naser Toure Mahama, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East. This morning, the Nation has lost a dedicated public servant, a steadfast champion for his constituents, and a member whose commitment to the advancement of Ghana was unwavering.

On behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, the Leadership of Parliament, and the entire Parliamentary Service, we extend our deepest condolences to the family,his colleagues in Parliament, his constituents in Ayawaso East, and all who were touched by his work and his humanity.

Hon. Naser Toure Mahama served our country with diligence, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility. His contributions to the House, his advocacy for development projects, and his tireless efforts to improve the lives of the people he represented will be remembered. He embodied the ethos of service and the spirit of philanthropy that are the hallmarks of public service.

This is a difficult time for Parliament and for the people of Ayawaso East. We share in the pain of his family and hold them in our thoughts and prayers. May the Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and grant his loved ones the strength to bear this loss.
