A Senior Advisor to the 2025 campaign of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has commended the character and leadership style of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, drawing parallels between Dr Bawumia and President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr Karbo said President Mahama’s appeal to many Ghanaians lies in his gentle, calm and approachable nature, qualities he believes Dr Bawumia equally embodies. According to him, these traits of humility, composure and accessibility are increasingly important to voters who want a leader that listens and connects with the people.

He noted that Dr Bawumia’s consistent messaging and calm disposition position him as a credible presidential candidate capable of meeting public expectations.

Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face programme on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Mr Karbo expressed satisfaction with the direction of the campaign.

“I am very happy with the way the campaign and the messaging have gone. When you listen to Dr Bawumia speak in Cape Coast and then hear him again in Yendi, it is the same message,” he said.

He added that this consistency has helped project Dr Bawumia as a focused and dependable leader. “People are beginning to see a presidential candidate who is knowledgeable, humble and calm – the kind of leader many Ghanaians are looking for,” he noted.

Mr Karbo further argued that President Mahama’s leadership style has shown that Ghanaians value gentleness and accessibility in governance, stressing that similar qualities are evident in Dr Bawumia.

“You cannot talk about President Mahama without acknowledging that he is a gentle president. That mellowness is what many people are looking for – a leader who is accessible and listens. As a party in opposition, one thing we have done is to listen,” he said.
