The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has confirmed that it has confiscated and is currently administering a portfolio of high-value assets and cash linked to the ongoing criminal prosecution of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others.
The confirmation was contained in the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, disclosed on January 29, 2026.
According to the report, the seized assets are being held as exhibits in the case The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others, which is currently before the Criminal High Court in Accra.

This development comes months after Dr Abdul-Hamid, in November 2025, publicly denied claims that the OSP had seized any of his properties in connection with investigations into his tenure at the NPA.
The seized assets reportedly include several fuel stations in Accra, parcels of land in Tamale, Adenta, Haatso, and Kumasi, as well as high-end residential properties located in prime neighbourhoods in the capital.
In addition, the OSP has taken custody of nearly GH¢952,000 in cash believed to be linked to the case.
The anti-graft agency has also frozen other assets and impounded logistics vehicles as part of its investigations into alleged large-scale extortion, abuse of public offic,e and money laundering.
The alleged financial infractions are estimated at more than GH¢291 million and over US$330,000.
Court records further indicate that the charges against Dr Abdul-Hamid and his co-accused were increased from 25 to 54 counts in late 2025, reflecting the expanding scope of the investigation.
The case remains ongoing, with proceedings continuing at the Criminal High Court in Accra.
Previous reports had highlighted a dispute between the OSP and the legal team of the former NPA boss, who consistently denied that any assets connected to their client had been seized.
