The government has confirmed a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, involving a truck transporting tomato traders from Ghana.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, described the information received from Burkina Faso as disturbing and said authorities are working urgently to establish the full details of the incident.
According to the Minister, the attack occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, when the truck conveying Ghanaian traders was caught in a terrorist incident in the northern part of Burkina Faso.

“The government has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana, which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao,” Mr. Muntaka stated.
He noted that the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness due to the possible involvement of Ghanaian citizens.
Mr. Muntaka disclosed that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso has begun active engagement with local authorities to assess the situation and identify any affected Ghanaians.
He added that diplomatic channels are being used to ensure timely and accurate information from the affected area.
The Interior Minister assured the public that the government would continue to provide updates as investigations progress.
He emphasized that the safety of Ghanaian citizens remains a top priority and that all necessary measures are being taken to support those affected.
“We will keep Ghanaians informed as more details emerge,” he assured.
The incident comes amid growing security challenges in parts of the Sahel region, where terrorist activities have affected cross-border trade and movement.
Security analysts warn that such attacks pose increasing risks to traders and travelers operating within the sub-region.
