National Council of Patrons congratulates Bawumia on NPP Flagbearer victory

The National Council of Patrons of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated its newly elected flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, following his emphatic victory in the party’s presidential primaries.

The delegation, led by its chairperson, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Bawumia at his private residence in Accra on Friday, February 13, 2026.

The visit, according to the Council, was to formally congratulate the flagbearer and express confidence in his leadership. Members noted that his decisive win reflects the strong trust and belief the party has in his vision and capacity to lead the NPP to victory.

During the meeting, the Council outlined its core mandate and pledged its full support for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign.

The patrons assured him of their readiness to mobilise critical resources and provide strategic guidance to ensure an effective nationwide campaign ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The National Council of Patrons, made up of seasoned party stalwarts, includes respected figures such as Isaac Osei, Prof. Yaa Ntiamoah Baidoo, Dr. Charles Dwamena, Mr. Ken Amankwah, Edward Boateng, Anthony Nsia-Asare, and Thomas Agyekum Kyeremeh, among others.

In their remarks, members stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive reconciliation process, beginning from the grassroots level to the national leadership, to foster unity and strengthen the party.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Osei-Opare highlighted the depth of experience within the Council, noting that its members are prepared to serve on any assigned committee to complement ongoing party efforts.

“Considering the diverse backgrounds and rich experience of our members, all patrons are ready to serve in any capacity to help secure victory in 2028,” she said.

Responding, Dr. Bawumia expressed gratitude to the Council for its support and encouragement. He reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, and inclusiveness within the party.

He disclosed that a reconciliation committee would soon be constituted to promote harmony and cohesion among party members.

“Very soon, a reconciliation committee will be established to ensure a peaceful and united NPP, ready to reclaim power in 2028,” he stated.

The flagbearer also acknowledged the wealth of experience within the Council and pledged to draw on their expertise as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.
